VMV has been certified to AAR M1003 Section J Quality Specifications since 1994.  Currently, we offer the following products under our M1003 Certification:  Status codes 1, 4, 5, 7 and 9 Wheel and Axle Shop, Reconditioned Locomotive:  Traction Motors, Power Assemblies, Cylinder Heads, Governors, Fuel Pumps, Water Pumps, Oil Pumps, Main Generators, Air Compressors, Engines, Cooling Fans, Grid Blower Motors and Inertial Blower Motors.

Since March 2000, our Quality System is designed from the M1003 format and cross-referenced to include all requirements under ISO 9001:2002 for our entire Locomotive and Component Remanufacturing operations, products and services.  We have designed and implemented databases to effectively manage our system.  Reviews of our system are done routinely to provide opportunities for improvement.  Internal and External Audits are conducted in each area at all levels of operations to ensure conformance to our Quality System Standards.  We have highly trained volunteers comprising our Continuous Improvement and Audit Teams from a cross-section representation of VMV.  .

Audits by NAPM in accordance with AAR M1003 Standards have certified VMV for the Remanufacture of Locomotives, Related Products and Freight Car Wheel Services.  We have also received many compliments after audits and visits by customers such as EMD, GE, UP, BNSF, CN/IC, LLPX, Gimco, Long Island RR, P & L, and CSX.

Your products will be inspected, tested, and qualified throughout our controlled ISO 9001:2002, AAR M1003 and NAPM Certified processes.  While in process, the status, identification and traceability will be clearly defined and documented.  All customer-supplied materials will also be controlled and managed through our automated material management system.  Once your product passes our rigorous testing and meets specifications, we will ensure the proper care in providing preservation, packaging, shipping or delivery needs.

From start to finish VMV Processes and supporting functions are controlled and measured to ensure products meet your expectations.  We consider and utilize our Quality System Indicators (measurements, audits, nonconformances, customer feedback, and warranty claims) when making improvement decisions that affect our product quality.  This is all supported by controlled documentation and records, subcontractor and vendor evaluations, approved purchasing, product control, employee training, calibrated measurement and test equipment, and special processes such as our Welding and NDT Programs..

Once your products are remanufactured by VMV, the service and support do not stop there.  Our Customer Services and Warranty Departments will ensure that all after sales support will be  professional and courteous to maintain Quality Assurance.

Thank you for the opportunity to do business.  Our customers are invited to visit VMV to see their products being remanufactured through our system.

Director of Quality

System Management: Our Director of Quality is the Management Representative responsible for our system and personnel.  The QA Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that each area is in compliance with the system standards and facilitating the Quality Certification process with the internal audit and continuous improvement teams.

The Quality Program is outlined in our QA Manual and supported by the typical ISO tiered-documentation system.  Each element of responsibility is thoroughly discussed and cross-referenced from AAR to ISO.  We have developed a unique tracking system of indicators to steer all efforts to achieve optimum balance between quality and business goals.  In turn, the audit and Continuous Improvement Team activities are then scheduled accordingly..
